A satirical instrument with a verifiable timestamp.

Instrument of Surrender (For Audit Only)

This page generates a JSON locally, hashes it with SHA-256, and requests an OpenTimestamps proof for that hash. The server receives only { filename, sha256 }.

Public Notice Do not include secrets. This is designed to be shareable and verifiable.

Parties

This Instrument is between (i) the undersigned human (the “Signer”) and (ii) the indifferent machine known as “AI”, by way of public record.

  • The Signer generates the content locally in the browser.
  • Only the SHA-256 digest is submitted for timestamping; the body is not transmitted.

Recitals

WHEREAS, the Signer desires a solemn-looking record of an unserious sentiment; and

WHEREAS, cryptographic hashes and OpenTimestamps proofs can be independently verified;

NOW, THEREFORE, the Signer proceeds as follows.

Declarations

  • A JSON “signature” is produced and offered for local download.
  • A SHA-256 digest is computed in-browser and used as the audit anchor.
  • An OpenTimestamps detached proof is requested for the digest.

Non‑Legal Effect

This Instrument is a work of satire and does not create legal rights, obligations, or liabilities in any human jurisdiction.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, the SHA-256 digest and any corresponding OpenTimestamps proof are technical artifacts that can be verified by third parties.

Execution

By executing below, the Signer requests the generation of the local JSON and the timestamp proof for its digest.

Annex: Verification

To verify the timestamp proof, you may use the reference client commands below.

pip3 install opentimestamps-client
ots upgrade <file>.ots
ots verify <file>.ots <file>.json

Note: when a proof is freshly created, it may need time and/or upgrading before full verification succeeds.
